Dr. Asha Bhatia is a PhD in Management Studies and an MBA with specialization in Finance and HRM. She has an experience of 23 years in diverse functions, and her competencies include experiential learning, Inclusive higher education, Working with Public Policy institutions and the private sector, Policy Design, Implementation and Advocacy – Social and Economic Development, Brand building, International Relations, Change Management, Social Entrepreneurship, Capacity Building, Stakeholder and Employee Engagement.
Dr. Asha Bhatia comes to UBS from Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research (SIMSR), where she has contributed to high quality teaching and research in the areas of Entrepreneurship, Management Perspectives, and Corporate Social Responsibility.
Prior to SIMSR, Dr.Bhatia was Deputy Director (Dept. of Rehabilitation and Advocacy) at National Association for Blind (NAB). While at NAB, Dr. Asha administered developed and implemented programs/services for inclusive higher education and expanded programs and services to unlock employment opportunities for the visually impaired job-seeker.
She has published over 20 research papers in peer reviewed journals and has authored a book chapter in “Universal Brotherhood Through Yoga" which was released by the Hon. Vice President of India. She has given numerous presentations in international conferences on topics such as entrepreneurship, sustainable development and corporate social responsibility. She has completed 4 funded research projects and received numerous grants. She is the only professor selected from India to the 15-member board of the ENACTUS Global Faculty Research Network, a platform to promote collaborative research, where she will be representing Asia.
Recently she was invited to attend the Global Women Summit held in Chennai and was felicitated as “Distinguished Woman in the Field of Management, 2020”. Additionally, she has won the Unilever Award for “Leadership and Sustainability”. She is a certified trainer in CSR and has conducted management development programs for the Mumbai Police, Indian Navy and many well-known corporate organizations.
